Is It Fine to Cut Out Family Members from Our Life?

There is probably nothing more painful and devastating than cutting ties with some family members. After all, bonding with the family is supposed to be the most important thing in life. We are expected to open up to the people who matter the most.

But, it seems that some bonds are better left broken, especially if we have wounds that need healing. Even though we expect these people to be there for us and help us in our time of need, some of them will do everything to hurt us.

When we least expect it, they are going to stab us in the back. These people are usually toxic and no matter how hard you try, you can never change them. So, it is best to cut ties with people like this.

To avoid any physical, emotional, or mental distress, it is better that you put yourself first. This is how you can recognize a toxic family member.

1. They Always Judge You

Constructive criticism is good and healthy. But, being constantly judged by people can severely damage our self-confidence and affect our way of life. For a toxic family member, you’re never good enough.

No matter how hard you try, they will always degrade your efforts. If you know someone like this, it is better to stay away from them.

2. They Need Drama

Let’s say you decided to open up about your problems and share your story with a certain family member who you truly trust. But, the next day, you find out that that particular family member has betrayed you.

They have told your secret to every single member of your family. Now, everyone is looking down on you. Why? Because for them this is amusing. It is all about amusement. They need to find something to use against you. Something to insult you with.

Now, this is the ultimate betrayal. Of course, a long time ago, you used to be very close with this family member, but now you know better. Now, that bond is truly broken.

3. One Moment They Praise You, And the Next, They Mock You

One moment that particular family member is caring, soft, trustworthy, and decent, but the next, they will use terrible words to insult and mock you. Well, don’t fall for it! This is just a trap. What you should do instead is ignore them.

People like this can’t stand being ignored. If you show a little weakness, they will use it to their advantage, manipulate you and take complete control over you.

4. They Are There Only If They Need You

If there is something they need, a toxic family member will always ask you for help. But, the moment you need their help, they will instantly disappear. People like this don’t care about you and never will.

5. They Are ‘’NEVER’’ Wrong

Toxic people never admit they are wrong. No matter how many people believe otherwise, they will still think they did the right thing.

To achieve this, people like this use a specific manipulation technique that makes their victims feel helpless and doubt their own intuition. In the end, their victim even begins to question their own sanity, memory, and perception.

If you know anyone with these personality traits, it is most likely that they are toxic people. If you let them infiltrate your life they can affect your mental health and well-being. That is why it is best to try and stay away from them.

Or better yet, try to cut the ties with them completely.
