Chemical in Vape Flavors Connected to “Popcorn Lung” – An Irreversible Condition

Nowadays, vaping is a widespread and common habit. Most likely you have acquaintances, friends and family members who vape. Perhaps you have considered vaping yourself, or you are already vaping.

Although this might seem like a trendy and harmless thing to do, you should think twice about it. You see, vaping isn’t as harmless at it seems since it is bad for your health.

According to new studies, the chemical in flavored vape pods by the name diacetyl might lead to “popcorn lungs.” That’s the inflammation of the airways which comes with coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath.

This condition got its name 20 years ago when some workers at a microwave popcorn factory experienced the condition after they have been exposed to the artificial butter flavor.

It was discovered that their issues were happening because of the exposure to a certain chemical during the inhalation and that chemical is diacetyl.

Moreover, according to one study done in the year 2015, diacetyl was found in 39 of 51 chemicals in e-cigarettes.

This study didn’t confirm that those chemicals caused popcorn lung, but since the results are alarming, it definitely needs further attention and research.

According to marketing and advertising many people might think that vaping is safe, the truth is that this famous habit is actually harmful to the health, addictive and common among young people.

Vaping cannot help people quit smoking but instead it causes dual addition.

Vaping – What Is It?

You should know that vaping was actually introduced in the year of 2007 and ever since it has been gaining huge popularity. Vaping refers to the act of exhaling and inhaling aerosol which is more commonly known by the name vapor.

It’s a product of devices such as e-cigarettes. Cigarettes make tobacco smoke, but e-cigarettes don’t instead these cigarettes make an aerosol. This is produced out of fine particles.

Often, the aerosol is mistaken for water vapor that is where the term vaping came. The term “vaping” is commonly used for the smoking of the e-cigarettes. A common misunderstanding is that it’s healthy when it isn’t.

You see, the particles which aerosol is made of have toxic chemicals which have been connected to different diseases. Those diseases are heart disease, cancer, and respiratory conditions.

Before continuing or starting this unhealthy habit, it’s better to be empowered and educated.

Remember Vaping Is Bad for Your Overall Health

Maybe vaping is less harmful in comparison to smoking regular cigarettes. However, it’s still bad for the overall health. Why? Because same as regular cigarettes, the e-cigarettes have toxic chemicals.

Also, they are addictive and lead to withdrawals and cravings. These cigarettes can cause adrenaline spikes, raise the risk of heart attacks, cause high blood pressure and increased heart rates.

Moreover, research has discovered that they can harm people’s metabolism, cause asthma, respiratory issues and increase the risk of obtaining cancer.

E-Cigarettes Are Not Declared Safe!

You should know that e-cigarettes have not been reviewed by the FDA, i.e. the Food and Drug Administration. As a matter of fact, the reviews are delayed until 2022.

According to the 2016 report of the US Surgeon General, nicotine isn’t safe in any possible form, and this includes vaping e-cigarettes. Some people do not know this and think that it’s a good and safe choice.

Vaping is Addictive

Same as cigarettes, the e-cigarettes have nicotine which is highly addictive and might be as addictive as heroin and cocaine. It might shock you, but it’s said that the e-cigarettes have more nicotine in comparison to tobacco products.

Although vaping has been marketed as a safe way to give up cigarettes, they have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as effective smoking cessation tools.

One 2017 study reports that vaping does not help to quit smoking but it does the opposite it leads to dual-users.

Why People Vape?

The diversity of flavored vaping cartilages might be more enticing to young people and to those people who would avoid smoking otherwise.

As a matter of fact, vaping costs less in comparison to smoking cigarettes and that is why it might be more available to young people and to those people who are watching their budget.

Because of the false advertising that vaping is a healthier and better alternation, people do not understand just how bad it can be.

Vaping is being advertised a habit which might help people quit smoking, so some people might purposely decide to start vaping without ever quitting smoking or kicking their nicotine habit.

These individuals might blame themselves while it might be the product that’s keeping them hooked without helping them to stop smoking.
