Why It's Good to Put A Lemon Next to The Bed at Night

According to Diane Elizabeth, people have used lemons as aromatherapy for decades. It has shown to have many benefits such as improved concentration, lowered stress, as well as a calming effect on the respiratory system.

It is amazing how many benefits do fruits and vegetables have.

One of the best fruits is the lemon, and it is used as a cleaning solution, beauty product, or even as toothpaste. Now, we are going to talk about the advantages of placing a lemon beside our bed, and how to cut it to get the best out of it.

First of all, lemons are rich in nutrients which have great health benefits. It is an easy task to make a combination of nutrients and aromatherapy.

Here is a list of some benefits of placing a lemon beside your bed:

1. Improved Breathing

Lemon is rich in antioxidants and anti-bacterial properties. That is why it helps people to breathe easier. People who have asthma or are having a cold may find it helpful to place a lemon next to their bed. It may open up their lung pathways.

From an elemental standpoint, it makes sense.

2. Better Air Quality

Thanks to the powerful aroma that lemons give off, your area around your bed will smell better. Also, because of lemon’s detoxification properties, it can improve the quality of the air.

3. Relieves the Pain

During childbirth, midwives and obstetricians sometimes use essential oils to ease the pain. According to a study from the University of Maryland Medical Center, pregnant women experienced less fear and anxiety and did not need a lot of pain meds during childbirth.

In addition, people with headaches, cancer as well as rheumatoid arthritis needed fewer pain meds while utilizing aromatherapy.

4. Stress Relief

Aromatherapists see lemon as a stress reliever. Why is that so? Well, lemons aid in the production of serotonin (the happy chemical). Also, serotonin helps in the regulation of mood and anxiety so that lemons may help here (1) (2), (3).

5. Lowers Blood Pressure

Lemon balm is known for its ability to improve blood circulation and lower blood pressure. And, since many people use blood pressure meds, it would be a good thing to try out lemon treatment (5).

6. Get Rid of Insects and Germs

Ants and mosquitos hate the smell of lemon. According to one small company, Per Mosquito-no, you can get rid of mosquitos by rubbing your skin with citrus peels. Likewise, ants do not like citrus peels. Lemon can also help get rid of germs thanks to its bactericidal properties (4).

How to Cut a Lemon

For people who are neither chefs nor cooks, here is a short instruction on how to cut a lemon in the proper way. First, you should take a small plate or a cutting board. Then, hold the lemon top-down in your free hand.

Cut about ¾ of the way down to the center of the lemon. And, rotate the lemon 90 degrees and do it again. If the lemon cannot stand, you can cut off the opposite ends so it can stay flat.

Be careful not to cut yourself.
